How is the Business Development department facing the challenges caused by COVID-19?
The Business Development department is spread all around the world. We have several teams that cover the international market through five regions: Asia-Pacific, Europe, Iberia and Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa and North America. This allows us to maintain a very close relationship with clients.
Working remotely has not caused any great change or challenge. Indeed, it has meant a greater union. At the organizational level, we have increased team meetings which have strengthened cooperation and internal communication.
We have faced the need to transfer face-to-face meetings to a digital format also for clients. This situation has also allowed us to further strengthen customer communication and maintain the company activity.
What new measures have you taken to be closer to customers?
At GPM we already work regularly with digital tools that allow us to remotely coordinate our daily work. This has made it much easier for us to face the current situation due to the health crisis caused by COVID-19.
Some routines have indeed been modified, but technology has been our main ally. The increase of video calls with clients and the organization of The Green Talks webinars have allowed us to have a constant presence in the market.
How is the department contributing to GPM’s success?
The Business Development (BD) department is the first point of contact for customers with GPM. We are the first visible face of a group of professionals that is present worldwide. Therefore, it is essential to be close to the client, to know well their market, their needs and even to speak their language.
Currently, we have a portfolio of more than 32GW, between solar and wind. Such trust in GPM has given us more than 700 clients distributed in 75 countries.
That is why it is important to have a network of Business Developers able of being close to these clients. We want clients to be followed during the all life cycle of their renewable projects. We feel their success as our own and together with them, we work to create a positive impact for future generations.
