GPM HYBRID POWER PLANT CONTROLLER (HPPC)

GPM hybrid power plant controller (HPPC)

A single GPM PPC device that integrates HPPC architecture with PPC software, enabling operators to manage multiple operating modes, divide set points between PV and BESS, and detect active power flow.

GPM HPPC: grid compliance

GPM PPC meets grid requirements and works with third-party SCADA, self-developed GPM SCADA, and a standalone web application called GPM HMI PPC, providing flexibility from the SCADA system onsite.

GPM HPPC: power management system

The hybrid PPC controls architecture divides the PPC’s internal setpoint between BESS and PV inverters, enabling site operators to choose from various control modes and functionalities

BESS priority control

Four different control modes are available: PV plants can adjust their power output to meet POI active power setpoints, or local setpoints can be satisfied independently of POI setpoints.

FFR mode

The system maintains the PPC’s setpoint at POI through PV generation, with the BESS triggering only when a frequency event occurs, regulating plant output power accordingly.

BESS-PV coordinated control

The system maintains the PPC’s setpoint at POI through PV generation, with the BESS triggering only when a frequency event occurs, regulating plant output power accordingly.

BESS state management

Hybrid PPC controls hybrid site operation and protects the BESS by limiting battery charging/discharging capabilities, based on instantaneous SoC. This protection is configurable by site operators. In multiple BESS subsystems, the HPPC performs a balancing algorithm to homogenize SoC by adjusting active power setpoints.
