Wind Bite: GreenPowerMonitor contributes WindEurope conference research

4662208d-60a4-43fd-8b23-a5e3bce09f62GreenPowerMonitor (GPM) recently attended the WindEurope conference in Bilbao, Spain. GPM presented a method to increase precision of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting processes of avoided CO2 emissions.

Over 200 posters by industry and academic professionals from around the globe were selected for presentation by the conference organisers. The technical quality of presented research was high, and the poster hall was busy with scientific conversations throughout the conference. Our main observation is that there is (still) a lot of value in developing new analytics capabilities using operational SCADA data. Analytics can be enriched by third-party data sources external to the primary SCADA system.

Areas of research presented using SCADA data varied from Power Curve analysis (e.g. icing, turbulence and air density), Asset life management, Predictive maintenance algorithms, wind farm curtailment and control strategies to industry data standardization efforts. Importantly, such research can be deployed in interoperable secondary SCADA systems like GPM Horizon.

GPM would like to congratulate and acknowledge fellow contributors on the excellent research presented at the 2022 WindEurope conference in Bilbao. The research posters and explanatory videos by authors are freely available on the WindEurope conference website https://windeurope.org/annual2022/conference/posters/

Industry events like WindEurope present an excellent opportunity not only for networking but also to expand one’s knowledge and contribute to collectively furthering the wind industry. +

Our experts, such as Michael Sherry, Director Wind Business & Product Development, look forward to continuing discussions with operators and asset owners on how the research presented at WindEurope Bilbao can assist in the efficient management of multi-technology portfolios at the ACP’s CLEANPOWER conference in San Antonio on 16-18 May 2022. Stop by the DNV booth #1707.
